Auditions
Auditions for the 2012-13 season are closed. Auditions for the 2013-14 season will be held in late August. If you wish to audition, please fill in and send the form below to schedule an audition.
Chora Nova auditions experienced choral singers with good sight reading skills and some vocal training, periodically throughout the year. If you wish to audition, please submit the application below and you will be notified about the next audition date.
Audition format: The audition lasts about 20 minutes and will consist of vocalizing, sight reading, and a prepared piece of your choice (accompaniment will be provided).
Performance schedule: We perform three concerts per season. Performances are in Berkeley.
Rehearsal schedule: There is a 9- to 12-week rehearsal period prior to performances, with a single intensive Saturday rehearsal at some time during the shorter sets, usually for the winter and spring sets. Weekly rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:30-10 p.m. in Berkeley. Music is distributed at or before the first rehearsal for the quarter, and singers are expected to learn it as soon as possible.
Dues: Dues are $110 for each concert set. There will be an additional charge for music. You are not required to buy the music from us if you let us know that you already have some of it.
